Pacquiao v Bradley confirmed

22nd February 2012

Manny Pacquiao will defend his WBO welterweight title against Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand on June 9, it has been confirmed.

It will be the 60th fight in the career of the multi-weight champion, who has not been beaten for seven years.

However, in Bradley he meets an undefeated opponent who has held a version of the light-welterweight title since beating Junior Witter in Nottingham in 2008.

Bradley had been in line to fight Amir Khan last year in a unification bout but was unable to agree terms with Pacquiao's stablemate.

Now with the Filipino's promoter Bob Arum, a fight with Pacquiao made sense in his first foray at the 147lb limit.

And Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach said it was good to finally get in the ring with an unbeaten opponent.

"It's nice to be fighting a fighter who is undefeated and not worried about losing that zero on his record," said Roach, in a clear dig at Floyd Mayweather Jnr, who will take on former Pacquiao victim Miguel Cotto in May.
